A heartless samurai that has climbed a mountain to view the battle field below but comes upon the most beautiful plant he's ever seen. The plant takes on the form of a woman and reaches out to him. Does he fall in love with this beauty or does he hack it to pieces?

Pic 1) Some quick helmet ideas thrown out in about 40min. I'm pretty happy with how some of these look so I may try and incorporate them into my sci-fi work that I've done.
Pic 2) Expanding from the helmets into the full suits of armor. I spent around an hour and a half on these.

So I met Tim Coman from Big Huge Games at this past Baltimore Comic-Con and showed him some of my work. He gave me some great feedback and we had a nice discussion about the concept art industry. One suggestion he had for me was to show my sketches and concepts before I actually push them to finished illustrations. I thought I'd post some of my latest sketches.

Pg1-3 These were the first pages of Corbin for me to start coloring and so with that came a lot of problem solving and communication between me and Mike. I loved these panels and the opportunity to really use light sources to my advantage as well as saturate the color pallet to create mood.
Pg4-6 Getting into pages 5 and 6 presented me with a new setting with more lighting and close ups. Every panel presented me with a new learning experience and challenge. If one angle of a shadow was off then the entire expression was lost.
Pg7-9 New angles on characters presented new shadows and edge lighting scenarios with these panels. Some of these frames are particularly complex due to angle or subject matter and trying to approach a tasteful use of gradients was particularly difficult.
Summary Working on this preview of Corbin with my good friend Mike Odum was not only fun but a great challenge and learning experience. I'm glad I've had such a great intro into comics and being a colorist. I'm very excited to be involved in more work down the road.

Scientists had broken barriers by creating this majestic creature. They had successfully combined human and wolf DNA but were not successful in containing such a creature. He broke loose, killed of military guards, and escaped into the Texas wilderness. With the use of a large combat knife and GPS he travels towards the coast to seek a new beginning and to escape his military oppressors. He's definitely someone you wouldn't want to run into on a hike. (Photoshop Illustration with some photo textures imported in)

I tried to go for a tense and dramatic subject. A Russia Naval captain being pulled to the bottom of an ocean trench by some wreckage while being accompanied by some sharks. He sees the baby but is unaware of it's mom coming from below. I hope you like it.

This is an illustration that I worked on one day for an online competition. It's one of three illustrations and it's honestly the one that I spent less time on. My other two will be posted later. The concept is that a secret military group has been experimenting on combining animal and human DNA in order to creative a futuristic soldier. Even though they were successful with the genetics they failed to realize that the mind is out of there control. This little frog princess is out to kill.

These are two character ideas that I came up with that I may continue on down the road at a later date. The spec-opts soldier is rendered out for the most part but the girl image is still in the rough. I may try to tighten her up within the next few days. I hope you enjoy the explosions and fire because it was a great deal of fun for me.
